The foundation training course is designed for the new or novice 3D Studio Max software user and will enable them to experience and utilise its main features.
Advanced courses are tailored specifically to the students needs/requirements and charged at a rate of £349 +VAT per day.
Early booking is recommended as our trainers are in high demand. |

Setting Up Your Scene
The training starts with an overall look at the 3D Studio Max working environment. Then we learn how to set up a scene. Topics include:
- Setting the system unit
- Choosing a unit display
- Setting grid spacing
- Setting view port display
- Opening, closing and saving scenes
Modelling
You will learn to model objects in your scene by creating standard objects, such as 2D shapes and 3D geometry, and then applying modifiers to those objects.Topics include:
- Creating objects
- Selecting and positioning objects
- Modifying objects
Materials
We will give you an introduction to how the material editor works. Enabling you to create materials and maps to control the appearance of object surfaces. You will also learn how to control the appearance of some environmental effects such as the background. Topics include:
- Basic material properties
- Using maps
- Viewing materials in the scene
Lights & Cameras
Adding lights and cameras to complete your scene much in the same way lights and cameras are positioned on a movie set prior to filming. Topics include:
- Default lighting
- Placing lights
- Viewing lighting effects
- Placing cameras
Animation
In this section you will learn the basic principles of animating objects within 3D Studio Max. Topics include:
- Controlling time
- Animating transforms
- Defining environments
- Setting rendering options
- Editing animation
Rendering
This will demonstrate how to use the 'Render Scene Dialog' to complete and provide an output for your images and animations.
